Responsibilities
- Safely operate a variety of trucks including tractor-trailers, flatbeds, refrigerated trailers, tankers, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, and other specialized vehicles
- Plan and follow efficient routes using GPS navigation systems to meet delivery schedules
- Load and unload freight with manual handling equipment such as forklifts when necessary, ensuring proper cargo securing and compliance with safety standards
- Comply with all FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) rules, hazardous materials regulations, and dangerous goods handling procedures
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, deliveries, and vehicle inspections in accordance with FMCSA regulations
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after trips; report any mechanical issues or safety concerns promptly
- Ensure proper documentation for shipments including load manifests, delivery receipts, and compliance paperwork
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for the vehicle type being operated
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including route driving and freight delivery
- Proficiency in manual transmission operation and familiarity with various truck configurations such as tractor-trailers, flatbeds, refrigerated trailers, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks
- Strong knowledge of logistics cargo handling procedures and load & unload techniques
- Ability to handle hazardous materials safely following hazardous materials regulations if applicable
- Excellent driving record with a focus on safety and compliance with DOT regulations
- Physical ability to perform manual handling tasks including lifting heavy cargo when required
- Experience with GPS navigation systems for route planning and real-time navigation adjustments
