Responsibilities
- Operate heavy wrecker trucks with precision, including flatbed and tow truck models, to recover disabled or damaged vehicles from various locations.
- Load, unload, and secure vehicles using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or winches, ensuring safety during transit.
- Conduct automotive diagnostics and basic repairs when necessary to facilitate vehicle recovery or prepare vehicles for transport.
- Manage customer interactions professionally, providing excellent service while explaining procedures and addressing concerns effectively.
- Maintain detailed logs of recoveries, loads, unloads, and vehicle condition reports for accurate record-keeping.
- Follow all safety protocols and traffic laws during operations to prevent accidents or injuries.
- Assist with vehicle inspections, mechanical troubleshooting, and minor repairs to support overall fleet maintenance.
Requirements
- Proven experience operating tow trucks or heavy recovery equipment with a strong understanding of flatbed and wrecker systems.
- Mechanical knowledge of automotive systems, including diagnostics, repairs, manual transmissions, and automotive repair fundamentals.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for heavy vehicles; clean driving record required.
- Skilled in driving various vehicles including flatbeds, tow trucks, forklifts, and other industrial equipment.
- Ability to load & unload vehicles efficiently while adhering to safety standards; experience with load securing is essential.
- Strong customer service skills combined with conflict management abilities to handle challenging situations professionally.
