Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic and passionate CDL B (box truck) Road Instructor to lead hands-on training sessions for aspiring commercial drivers. In this role, you will deliver engaging instruction on safe driving practices, vehicle operation, and regulatory compliance to adult learners. Your expertise will inspire confidence and competence in students, helping them succeed in their trucking careers.
Responsibilities
- Conduct practical driving lessons for students operating box trucks, focusing on safety, maneuvering, and traffic laws
- Demonstrate proper vehicle inspection, pre-trip procedures, and load securement techniques
- Assess student performance regularly and provide constructive feedback to promote skill development
- Prepare and deliver classroom instruction on topics such as air brake systems, tanker operations, and commercial driving regulations
- Ensure all training activities adhere to federal and state safety standards and industry best practices
- Maintain detailed records of student progress, attendance, and evaluations
- Foster a positive learning environment that motivates students to excel and build confidence behind the wheel
Skills
- Valid CDL B license with relevant endorsements (air brake, tanker preferred)
- Extensive experience in truck driving, including tractor-trailer operations and commercial vehicle handling
- Strong background in teaching or adult education with classroom experience in driver training
- Knowledge of safety regulations related to commercial driving and vehicle inspections
- Excellent communication skills to clearly explain technical concepts and foster engagement
- Ability to assess student needs and adapt instruction accordingly
- Passion for mentoring new drivers and promoting safe trucking practices
Pay: $21.00 – $26.00 per hour
