Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and dependable Yard Hand/Delivery Driver to join our dynamic team! In this role, you will be responsible for assisting with yard maintenance, organizing freight, and delivering materials to various locations. Your energetic approach will ensure timely deliveries, safe operations, and efficient handling of goods. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be the backbone of our logistics operations, providing excellent service while maintaining a safe and organized yard environment.
Responsibilities
- Load and unload freight using equipment such as forklifts, dump trucks, or roll-off trucks, ensuring accuracy and safety.
- Drive commercial vehicles including trucks with manual transmissions, refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and tractor-trailers to deliver goods across designated routes.
- Safely operate various types of trucks including freight trucks, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks for delivery and yard tasks.
- Assist in yard organization by maintaining cleanliness, arranging inventory, and ensuring all equipment is in good working order.
- Follow established route driving procedures to ensure timely deliveries while adhering to safety regulations.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles to identify maintenance needs or safety issues.
- Load and unload materials efficiently at customer sites or storage facilities while ensuring proper handling of specialized freight such as refrigerated or tanker loads.
Skills
- Proven experience in truck driving with a focus on commercial driving standards.
- Familiarity with operating manual transmission vehicles and specialized equipment like forklifts.
- Knowledge of different truck types including flatbeds, tankers, refrigerated trailers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks.
- Ability to load & unload freight accurately while following safety protocols.
- Strong route driving skills with the ability to plan efficient delivery schedules.
- Experience with delivery driver responsibilities including load securing and documentation.
- Excellent physical stamina for lifting heavy items and performing yard duties as needed.
