The Job Summary
The Workshop Technician is responsible for supporting dealerships and maximizing customer satisfaction; leveraging in-depth knowledge of vehicles, diagnostic tools, and repair procedures to diagnose and troubleshoot complex technical issues; collaborating with dealership service teams, while providing technical guidance, and ensuring proper repairs are authorized.

Advanced Diagnostic Proficiency
- Possess a thorough understanding of vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, electrical systems, powertrains, and advanced driver-assistance features.
- Stay updated on the latest technologies, including hybrid and electric vehicle systems, as these become increasingly prevalent.
- Be familiar with diagnostic tools and software, such as factory scan tools and specific diagnostic platforms used by the company.
- Assist in developing and delivering technical training programs for dealership service technicians, ensuring they possess the skills to effectively diagnose and repair vehicles.

Workshop Operational Efficiency
- Utilize in-depth knowledge of vehicles, diagnostic tools, and repair procedures to diagnose and troubleshoot complex technical issues identified by dealerships.
- Prepare workshop equipment, tools, and materials for use ensuring they are in good working condition and properly calibrated.
- Complete workshop activities and related tasks efficiently by
- Inspect vehicles for obvious damage, missing major components, lose or misaligned items such as trim, doors, and hardware.
- Record discrepancies and signs or otherwise acknowledge an acceptance slip for each vehicle delivered.
- Perform repairs and replace defective items with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
- Ensure the warranty repairs are properly documented and charged.
- Drive the vehicle to test steering, brakes, transmission, and engine operation.
- Activate power equipment such as electric windows, seats, radio, horn, lights and directional signals to ensure specified operating standards.
- Inspect surfaces to detect minor chips and scratches in paint, Touch up imperfections using brush applicator and factory-supplied matching paint.
- Install optional equipment specified by the customer or dealer and the standard components in automobiles
- Pour antifreeze into radiator according to seasonal requirements, tune engine, using technicians' tools and test equipment.
- Install or repair major mechanical, hydraulic or electromechanical equipment such as radios, air conditioners, power steering units and power brakes using hand tools.
- Wash and polish exterior of vehicles, Clean and vacuum interior of vehicles and hence keep the car clean and presentable for the customers

Quality control & Assurance
- Implement documented procedures, training programs, and quality control plans to ensure consistent adherence to standards.
- Work with parts suppliers to ensure they meet quality expectations and requirements.
- Monitor customer complaints and warranty claims to identify areas for improvement by closely analysing trends in complaints.
