Position: Waste Operative (Cleansing)

About the role

We have a vacancy for a Street Cleansing Operative at our operational depot in Bury St Edmunds.

Responsibilities

  • Street cleansing
  • Dog and litter bin emptying
  • Clearance of fly tipping
  • Supporting markets
  • General maintenance of the public amenities across the West Suffolk area

Hours and schedule

The role is based on 37 hours per week, on a four-day basis (Wednesday to Saturday). The hours are as follows (excluding breaks):

  • Wednesday: 11 hours
  • Thursday: 7.5 hours
  • Friday: 7.5 hours
  • Saturday: 11 hours

What you will need

  • You will need to be physically fit as this role requires a great deal of walking and physical mobility, lifting and stretching.
  • You will need to be prepared to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • You will be able to demonstrate a positive approach to health and safety.
  • You will be flexible with a strong customer focus and be able to demonstrate a desire to deliver high standards of service.
  • You will be computer literate and be able to operate in-cab and handheld technology and other in-house systems as appropriate.
  • You will hold a minimum Class B (car) driving licence and have your own transport.
  • Experience of driving 3.5t vehicles and either 7.5t driving or trailer towing licence categories and DCPC card would be an advantage.
