DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position supports residents by providing safe, reliable, and courteous transportation throughout the county. The role involves strong communication, daily route navigation, and supportive assistance for senior and wheelchair-dependent riders. As a Van Driver (Local Government), you will perform the following duties:
Safe Transport: Operate county vehicles and transport riders with care and professionalism
Rider Assistance: Help passengers board, exit, and move safely along various paths and walkways
Route Navigation: Follow daily schedules and adjust to route changes as needed
Communication Skills: Use clear communication in person and through two-way radio interactions
Vehicle Care: Conduct basic checks and maintain cleanliness and safety of assigned vehicles
Community Support: Provide friendly social interaction while assisting riders throughout the day
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Part-time employment (14 to 21+ hours per week)
- Transportation operates 4:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Monday through Friday and limited hours on Saturdays

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of employment which required operation of a motor vehicle as a regular duty; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirement:
- This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
Condition of Employment:
- No suspension of driver’s license within the last three years.

Legal Requirements:
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and drug screening.
- You must pass a background investigation.

This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
