Duties
- Safely operate trucks with manual transmissions, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, and tractor-trailers for local deliveries
- Load and unload freight efficiently using equipment such as forklifts when necessary
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with regulations
- Deliver freight accurately along designated routes, adhering to schedules and traffic laws
- Secure cargo properly to prevent shifting or damage during transit
- Maintain detailed records of deliveries, pickups, and vehicle maintenance logs
- Communicate proactively with dispatchers regarding route updates or issues encountered on the road
Experience
- Proven experience in truck driving, especially with delivery routes within a local area
- Familiarity with driving manual transmission trucks and operating various truck types such as refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, or roll-off trucks
- Prior experience handling freight load & unload procedures efficiently and safely
- Knowledge of commercial driving regulations and safety standards
- Ability to operate forklifts or similar equipment is a plus but not mandatory
- Strong navigation skills with route planning experience preferred
