Job Overview:
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Truck Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting scrap metal safely and efficiently to and from recycling facilities and other designated locations, while adhering to all traffic laws and company policies. Drivers must be willing to travel throughout North Carolina and South Carolina. Home Daily.
This is an Independent Contractor position
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate a commercial truck to transport scrap metal and recyclable materials between recycling facilities, and other specified destinations.
- Safely handle and secure scrap metal loads, ensuring compliance with weight limits and safety requirements.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and proper maintenance.
- Adhere to assigned routes and schedules while managing time effectively.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, vehicle inspections, and cargo documentation.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, yard personnel, and other team members.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local transportation regulations.
Qualifications:
- Valid Class A CDL (Commercial Driver’s License).
- Active DOT Medical Card.
- Minimum 2 year of recent Class A driving experience.
- Tractor trailer experience preferred.
- No Automatic License Restriction preferred (ability to operate manual transmissions).
- Must submit to and pass a background check and drug screen.
- Strong knowledge of truck driving rules, DOT regulations, and safety procedures.
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot basic truck equipment.
- Ability to work independently and maintain a high level of responsibility.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Ability to safely handle tasks associated with scrap metal transportation environments (recycling yards, scales, etc).
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $1,000.00 – $1,700.00 per week
