Job Summary:
The CDL Driver will operate company vehicles to transport sheet metal products and materials between the manufacturing facility, suppliers, and customers. The position requires a responsible driver with a Class A CDL and a strong commitment to safety, punctuality, and customer satisfaction.
Schedule: Monday-Friday 6:00 AM – 3:30 PM *May have to work late depending on routes and traffic.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate a CDL Class A vehicle for the transportation of sheet metal materials, products, and equipment.
- Ensure all deliveries and pickups are completed on time, adhering to scheduled routes.
- Load and unload materials using appropriate lifting and securing methods, ensuring the safety of materials and cargo.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and report any maintenance or safety issues to the supervisor.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, fuel usage, and any incidents or delays.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal transportation regulations and company policies.
- Provide excellent customer service when interacting with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Assist with the organization and maintenance of the delivery fleet, ensuring that vehicles are well-maintained and clean.
- Safely handle sheet metal products, ensuring there is no damage during transport.
- Communicate effectively with the dispatch team to coordinate timely deliveries and address any issues or delays.
Qualifications:
- Valid CDL Class A driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a commercial driver.
- Ability to drive automatic transmission vehicles.
- Experience with flatbed trucks and transporting heavy and oversized loads preferred.
- Ability to safely handle large, heavy materials and use appropriate lifting equipment.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and best practices for transporting sheet metal products.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent customer service skills and a professional demeanor.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to drive a manual transmission vehicle is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to sit for long periods and drive for extended hours.
- Ability to operate large vehicles, including flatbeds and trucks with heavy loads.
- Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, straps, and load bars.
- Must be able to bend, squat, and stand for extended periods when loading/unloading materials.
