Education
Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
Responsibilities
- Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions.
- Provide professionalism in customer service.
- Arrange travel, related itineraries and make reservations.
- Load and unload goods.
- Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment.
- Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspections and oversee all aspects of vehicle.
- Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption.
Qualifications and Certifications
- Class 1/1F/A Licence (semi trailer trucks).
- Air Brake (Z) Endorsement.
- Driver logbook documentation knowledge.
- Driving record check (abstract).
- Experience:
7 months to less than 1 year.
Requirements
- Own transportation.
- Willing to travel overnight.
- Handle heavy loads, more than 45 kg (100 lbs).
- Have personal tools:
Cellular phone, steel-toed safety boots, safety vest, gloves. - Efficient interpersonal skills, excellent oral communication, organized, hardworking, patient.
- Authorized to work in Canada.
- Available for shift or on-call work.
- Live near the job location.
