Responsibilities
- Safely operate different types of trucks such as tractor-trailers, flatbeds, refrigerated trailers, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks across designated routes.
- Load and unload freight efficiently using appropriate equipment like forklifts when necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, pickups, and route logs to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after trips to identify maintenance needs or safety concerns.
- Follow all traffic laws, safety procedures, and company policies to uphold a high standard of driving excellence.
- Manage delivery schedules by planning optimal routes for timely arrivals while adapting to changing conditions.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients to coordinate pickups and deliveries seamlessly.
Skills
- Must have a class B license.
- Proven experience in truck driving with a strong understanding of route planning and delivery logistics.
- Proficiency in operating manual transmission vehicles and handling various truck types including flatbeds, refrigerated trailers, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks.
- Knowledge of driving regulations for commercial vehicles across different jurisdictions.
- Skilled in managing load securement for different cargo types such as freight requiring special handling or refrigeration.
