Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers, including trucks with manual transmissions, refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, and other specialized vehicles.
- Load and unload freight using appropriate equipment such as forklifts when necessary, ensuring proper handling and securing of cargo.
- Execute route driving plans efficiently while adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to identify maintenance needs or safety issues.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage logs, and delivery documentation.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients to coordinate pickups and deliveries.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local transportation regulations at all times.
Experience
- Proven experience in truck driving, including delivery driver roles involving freight transportation across various sectors.
- Familiarity with operating different truck types such as tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, refrigerated trailers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks.
- Skilled in manual transmission operation and handling specialized equipment like forklifts when necessary.
- Knowledge of load securing techniques and safety procedures for transporting freight securely.
- Prior experience with route driving, load & unload processes, and managing freight logistics is highly desirable.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) appropriate for the vehicle types operated; endorsements for tanker or hazardous materials are a plus. Pay: $28.00 – $35.00 per hour
