Responsibilities
- OTR for 2 weeks at time
- Safely load and unload freight, ensuring proper handling of hazardous materials and dangerous goods in compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards.
- Navigate routes using GPS navigation systems, planning efficient delivery schedules while adhering to DOT hours-of-service regulations.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after trips, checking for mechanical issues and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo details, and delivery documentation in accordance with FMCSA regulations.
- Load and secure cargo properly using manual handling techniques or equipment such as forklifts when necessary.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients to coordinate pickups, deliveries, and route adjustments as needed.
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a focus on route driving and delivery operations.
- Proficiency in operating manual transmission vehicles and specialized equipment such as forklifts or dump trucks.
- Knowledge of logistics cargo handling procedures for various freight types including hazardous materials and dangerous goods.
- Strong understanding of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) rules, and hazardous materials regulations.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely during load & unload activities.
- Excellent driving skills with a clean record in commercial truck driving environments.
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems for efficient route planning and real-time navigation adjustments.
