Position Summary
The Transportation Specialist is responsible for managing the day-to-day execution of global logistics operations for Amphenol Tecvox products. This role ensures efficient movement of goods across transportation channels, including coordination of shipments, resolution of transportation issues, and maintenance of compliance with international shipping regulations. The position works cross-functionally with internal teams, carriers, suppliers, and customers to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Transportation & Logistics Execution
- Monitor and manage domestic and international shipments (ground, air, and ocean) to ensure on-time delivery
- Identify, communicate, and resolve transportation disruptions and delays
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external partners to maintain smooth logistics flow
- Manage shipment documentation, including commercial invoices, SED, duties, taxes, and compliance requirements
- Maintain shipping configurations and instructions within ERP systems
Carrier & Vendor Management
- Build and maintain relationships with carriers and logistics providers
- Monitor carrier performance and develop KPIs to track service levels
- Resolve carrier issues and negotiate freight rates when necessary
- Review and approve freight invoices for accuracy and compliance
Compliance & Classification
- Ensure adherence to international shipping regulations and trade compliance requirements
- Collaborate with Supply Chain and Engineering teams to determine accurate HS classifications
Issue Resolution & Crisis Management
- Proactively address logistics disruptions, including weather, geopolitical, or operational issues
- Escalate critical issues to the Director of Supply Chain as needed
- Support claims processing related to damaged, lost, or delayed shipments
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve logistics processes and reduce costs
- Document and recommend process enhancements to increase efficiency and effectiveness
Team Support
- Act as a backup for other Supply Chain team members
- Maintain clear and consistent communication across internal and external stakeholders
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in global shipping, logistics, or a related field preferred
- Working knowledge of international shipping procedures (e.g., SED, commercial invoices, duties, taxes, classifications)
Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data analysis, reporting, formulas)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple shipments simultaneously
- Knowledge of freight carrier operations and logistics processes
