Job Summary
The Septic Truck Driver operates diesel-powered tandem vehicles on company premises, public highways, and customer sites. The driver services septage tanks, holding tanks, and grease traps. The role involves transporting various types of liquid waste from customers to storage facilities and public treatment plants.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Complete DNR Septage Servicing Operator Certification and maintain license with continuing education.
· Maintain Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and an acceptable driving record per company’s policies.
· Drive and operate a heavy-duty truck in various environments.
· Conduct pre/post trip vehicle inspections and report any issues to supervisors or maintenance.
· Operate vacuum pressure pumps and other equipment as required.
· Pump out and clean septic systems, grease traps, holding tanks and complete county maintenance reports for each service.
· Complete confined space entry training, enter confined spaces, and clean lines as needed.
· Dispose of waste following the laws and regulations.
· Maintain legible daily service logs in accordance with WI DNR regulations.
· Refuel truck at the end of each workday.
· Adhere to safety protocols for heavy equipment operations, including awareness of surroundings and road hazards.
· Provide courteous and friendly service to customers and work effectively with co-workers.
· Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Considerable knowledge of heavy-equipment operation.
· Experience working with DOT rules and regulations.
· Proficiency in operating heavy trucks over-the-road (long haul or short haul) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Ability to operate small hand tools and understand written and verbal instructions in English.
· Basic math skills and effective communication abilities.
· CDL operator’s license with tanker endorsement and Federal Medical Card endorsement.
· Acceptable driving record per FMCSA DOT regulations.
