about the position
duties
the senior marine inspector’s duties and responsibilities include the following: inspection of ships for regulatory compliance, seaworthiness, and protection of the marine environment, and issue inspection certificates.
investigates a wide variety of accidents, pollution incidents, and alleged infractions of the canada shipping act and canada labour code.
acts as project manager on multi-faceted audits/inspections of vessels covering nautical, marine engineering, and naval architecture.
conducts examinations and issue certifications for seafarers in accordance with the marine personnel regulations.
audits ship safety systems, ship navigation, cargo handling and stowage procedures.
