Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a school bus on designated routes and schedules
- Transport students to/from school, extracurricular activities, and field trips
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections
- Maintain a clean, safe, and operational vehicle
- Follow all DOT regulations, traffic laws, and safety protocols
- Ensure student safety, behavior management, and accountability onboard
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff
- Complete required documentation (incident reports, inspections, maintenance logs)
- Operate radio communication with dispatch
- Assist with emergency procedures and evacuations
- Install snow chains and operate safely in winter conditions when required
Minimum Requirements
- Valid CDL (Commercial Driver’s License)
- Must be 21 years or older
- High School Diploma or GED
- Clean driving record
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to pass DOT physical and drug/alcohol screening
- Strong communication and student management skills
- Ability to follow routes, read maps, and adapt to changing conditions
- Dependable, punctual, and safety-driven mindset
- Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Extended periods of sitting, driving, and operating a vehicle
- Frequent climbing, bending, lifting (up to 45 lbs)
- Exposure to weather conditions, traffic, and noise
- Must maintain focus, awareness, and emotional control at all times
- Flexible schedule, including early mornings, afternoons, and occasional extended hours
