BUS DRIVER
QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid CDL Class B license with School Bus and Passenger endorsement (preferred)
Three years of experience as a school bus driver
Past driving record free from:
A conviction for reckless driving.
A conviction of driving under the influence.
Revocation of driver’s license.
Unsatisfied judgments as a result of an accident.
Such additional requirements as the Board of Education may require.
REPORTS TO:
Transportation Director / Assistant Transportation Director
JOB GOAL:
To provide safe and efficient transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the district’s curriculum and extracurricular program.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Yearly physical examination with a negative TB test.
Obeys all traffic laws.
Observe all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
Enforcing conduct and safety rules on the bus.
Reports undisciplined students to the proper authority in writing.
Maintaining a clean vehicle.
Keeps to assigned schedule and stops.
Checks bus before the operation for mechanical defects.
Promptly notify the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness.
Discharges students only at authorized stops.
Exercises responsible leadership when on school field trips.
Transports only authorized students.
Reports all accidents and completes required reports.
Keeps an up-to-date record sheet listing mileage, fuel consumption, and field trips.
Properly uses the radio.
Follow the North Palos School District 117 board policy and district-issued policy.
Performs additional duties as assigned by the Transportation Director / Assistant Transportation Director.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
School calendar year when students are present; salary and benefits following the NPEA ESP IEA/NEA Agreement.
EVALUATION:
The performance of this position will be evaluated annually following the NPEA ESP IEA/NEA Agreement.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $21.96 – $23.00 per hour
