Job Summary
TG Technologies Group is currently seeking Residential I&R Technicians to support our growing telecom operations in Vancouver. This role is focused on inside-the-home fiber installations and service calls, including equipment setup, Wi-Fi configuration, and troubleshooting.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a high-quality, professional installation experience within residential environments while meeting daily performance targets.
Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site opportunity for a Residential Installation & Repair (I&R) Technician located in Vancouver, BC. The role involves executing the installation, maintenance, and repair of residential internet, television, and telecommunications services.
The Technician will primarily perform in-home installations, including ONT/modem setup, structured wiring, and Wi-Fi optimization, while also coordinating with outside plant (OSP) infrastructure when required. Responsibilities include troubleshooting connectivity issues, ensuring proper functioning of equipment, maintaining a high level of safety, and delivering excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and activate residential fiber (FTTH) services inside homes
- Set up and configure ONT, NID, modems, and Wi-Fi systems
- Run and secure fiber/Ethernet cabling within residential properties
- Perform installation, maintenance, and repair (I&R) service calls
- Troubleshoot and resolve connectivity and performance issues
- Test and verify all services before job completion
- Maintain accurate job notes, reports, and documentation
- Follow all safety procedures and installation standards
- Deliver a clean, professional, and customer-focused installation experience
Qualifications
- Valid Canadian driver’s license (MANDATORY)
- Experience in telecommunications installations (FTTH, cable, or ISP services)
- Strong technical knowledge of ONT/NID installation, Wi-Fi setup, and in-home wiring
- Understanding of buried and aerial fiber environments (asset)
- Basic knowledge of fiber splicing and OSP infrastructure (preferred)
- Experience coordinating with subcontracted services such as boring, plowing, or hydrovac (asset)
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and manage daily workload
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Physically capable of performing field work (lifting, ladders, confined spaces)
- Relevant certifications or telecom training are considered an asset
- Previous experience in telecommunications or utility construction is preferred
