Position: Relief Pharmacy Delivery Driver (On-Demand Coverage)
Role Overview
Script Runner is looking for on‑demand relief pharmacy delivery drivers to support pharmacies when additional route coverage is needed. This is not a traditional full‑time or fixed‑schedule driving role. Instead, this opportunity is designed for individuals who are already comfortable being on the road and want flexible supplemental work when routes become available. Drivers are contacted only when coverage is needed due to increased delivery volume, staff shortages, route expansion, or short‑notice operational needs.
You will have the ability to accept or decline work based on your availability. This role is ideal for people who already work in transportation or delivery‑related industries, including Uber or Lyft drivers, Uber Eats, Door Dash, Skip The Dishes , or Instacart drivers, courier and delivery drivers, retired transportation professionals, taxi or shuttle drivers, and individuals with previous commercial driving experience.
Unlike traditional gig‑app work, pharmacy deliveries are structured, professional, and scheduled. Drivers are provided with route details, pharmacy pickup instructions, and operational support directly from Script Runner.
Important Role Expectations
- Drivers are contacted only when delivery coverage is needed.
- There are no guaranteed weekly hours.
- There is no standby pay or stipend.
- Drivers are paid only for completed work assignments they accept and perform.
- Work availability depends on operational delivery demand.
- Some route requests may be communicated on short notice.
- Drivers can choose whether they are available when contacted.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete assigned pharmacy delivery routes accurately and professionally.
- Pick up prescription medications from partner pharmacies.
- Deliver medications safely and directly to patients according to delivery instructions.
- Follow all privacy, safety, and compliance procedures when handling prescriptions.
- Communicate delivery issues, delays, or patient concerns to Script Runner support.
- Use required delivery technology such as smartphones, route apps, scanners, or tablets.
- Maintain professionalism when interacting with pharmacy staff and patients.
- Be prepared to assist with short‑notice or urgent route coverage when available.
Driving Expectations (Important)
- Frequent local driving.
- Driving in varying weather and traffic conditions.
- Independent route completion.
- Multiple patient stops per route.
- Using navigation and delivery apps throughout the shift.
- Occasional urgent or same‑day route requests.
- Variable route lengths depending on operational needs.
- Drivers may be assigned routes in Woodstock and surrounding communities. Flexibility to support nearby areas is considered a strong asset.
Pay & Compensation
- CA $30/hour for active delivery work.
- CA $0.15/km reimbursement per delivery route.
- Bi‑weekly direct deposit.
- Flexible, supplemental work opportunities.
- Ability to accept work based on your own availability.
- Drivers are compensated only when actively working assigned routes.
- Hours are not guaranteed.
- This is not a salaried or fixed‑schedule position.
- Routes are offered based on operational demand and coverage needs.
Requirements
- Reliable vehicle in good working condition.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Valid vehicle insurance and registration.
- Smartphone with active data plan.
- Comfortable using navigation and delivery apps.
- Proof of eligibility to work in Canada.
- Strong punctuality and reliability.
- Professional communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Preferred backgrounds include delivery services, rideshare driving, transportation and logistics, courier services, community support work, security or mobile patrol work.
