RAILROAD LOG LOADER/GRAPPLE TRUCK OPERATOR CLASS B CDL
Tartaglia Railroad Services is a premier railroad contractor specializing in new track construction, production track maintenance and inspection services. Our company serves the Railroad industry throughout the northeast and has an immediate opening for a Railroad Grapple Truck Operator. We are offering a very competitive salary and benefits package for Grapple Truck Operators with or without on-track experience. Position is not full-time truck driving as not all job sites require it. Candidate will also operate track equipment and perform labor duties as projects require.
Essential Functions (Railroad Grapple Truck Operator):
- Safety.
- Great Work Ethic – Ability to learn, willing to take direction and receive feedback.
- Self-motivator with the ability to work without constant supervision, always on time.
- Communicate in a professional manner by phone and in person with all levels of internal personnel and railroad customer contacts.
- Skillfully operate a log loader truck; a hi-rail truck with hydraulic knuckle-boom loader attached.
- Load/unload semi-trucks and railroad cars using knuckle boom grapple.
- Segregate railroad materials using knuckle boom loader.
- Operate a cutting torch to prepare railroad materials such as railroad rail.
- Perform preventative & general maintenance to all equipment.
- 4 days per week, 40 hours per week is typical.
- Must be able to take direction from immediate supervisor and implement plans accordingly.
- Adherence to Company safety rules & regulations as well as working knowledge of OSHA safety regulations; FRA safety regulations and technical developments effecting workplace safety.
- Accurate reporting of required data both verbal and written, some computer work is necessary requiring completion of Company forms submitted electronically.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must possess a valid Class A or B CDL driver’s license.
- Must have a minimum of 2 years CDL drivers’ experience.
- Must be able to pass a pre-offer drug test and will be subject to FRA random drug testing.
- Knowledge of railroad operations; leadership, organization, good communication, good mathematical skills; and basic computer competency is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds.
- Sit or stand for extended periods of time, bend at waist, twist upper body, walk, and/or otherwise move around uneven surfaces and on railroad ballast.
- Climb up and down ladders on equipment.
