Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers across designated over-the-road routes, ensuring timely deliveries of freight including refrigerated loads, flatbeds, tankers, and other specialized equipment.
- Load and unload cargo using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or roll-off trucks, adhering to safety protocols and load securement standards.
- Manage route driving efficiently by planning optimal paths and maintaining communication with dispatch for updates or adjustments.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of your vehicle, including manual transmission systems and refrigeration units if applicable.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, mileage, and freight delivery details in compliance with DOT regulations.
- Ensure proper handling of various freight types—such as refrigerated goods, flatbed loads, tankers, or dump truck materials—while maintaining safety and quality standards.
- Build strong relationships with customers during deliveries by providing professional service and ensuring load integrity.
Experience
- Proven experience in truck driving with a focus on over-the-road (OTR) routes; previous delivery driver experience is highly valued.
- Must have at least 24 months of experience
- Skilled in operating manual transmission trucks and familiar with tractor-trailer configurations including flatbeds, tankers, refrigerated trailers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks.
- Knowledge of freight handling procedures such as load & unload operations and securing cargo for safe transport.
- Experience with route driving across long distances while managing time effectively to meet delivery schedules.
- Ability to operate auxiliary equipment like forklifts when necessary for loading or unloading freight.
- Demonstrated understanding of safety regulations related to commercial driving, including DOT compliance and SAP-friendly practices for driver support programs.
