Duties
- Safely operate a box truck with manual transmission across assigned routes, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Load and unload freight efficiently using proper lifting techniques or equipment such as forklifts when necessary
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety, including checking brakes, lights, tires, and cargo securement
- Plan optimal routes for timely deliveries, managing route driving with precision and flexibility
- Deliver freight to various locations, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tanker trucks, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, or other specialized equipment as needed
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation, logs, and delivery receipts in compliance with company policies
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve any issues promptly
Requirements
- Proven experience in truck driving, especially with commercial vehicles such as tractor-trailers or box trucks
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; CDL license preferred but not mandatory depending on vehicle size
- Experience operating manual transmission vehicles confidently
- Knowledge of freight handling procedures including load & unload operations
- Familiarity with different types of trailers including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks is a plus
- Ability to drive long distances over extended periods while maintaining alertness and safety standards
- Physical capability to lift heavy loads and perform routine vehicle inspections; forklift certification is advantageous
- Strong understanding of route planning and route driving best practices
