- MSW III – Sanitation: Hiring Range: $26.58 – $31.90 / hour
The ideal candidate holds a valid Class B CDL, has relevant experience (two years for MSW II, three+ for MSW III), demonstrates a strong work ethic, and possesses solid knowledge of trash collection procedures, traffic regulations, and commercial driving operations. Leadership, technical expertise, and equipment operation are required for MSW III.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES MSW II Responsibilities
- Operate a variety of sanitation vehicles and equipment, including side-load refuse truck to collect and transport solid waste, recyclables, and yard debris.
- Perform routine pre‑ and post‑trip inspections and basic maintenance to ensure vehicles and equipment remain in safe operating condition.
- Follow established routes, schedules, and safety procedures while maintaining compliance with all traffic laws and City regulations.
- Respond to public inquiries, service requests, and complaints in a courteous, professional, and customer‑focused manner.
- Assure placement, removal, and safe handling of waste and recycling containers to ensure efficient collection services.
- Maintain accurate records of daily activities, including timesheets and Department of Transportation inspection reports.
- Ensure adherence to all City policies, environmental standards, and workplace safety protocols.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Sanitation Supervisor.

MSW III Responsibilities
- Perform all duties of MSW II.
- Proficient, independent operation of all sanitation vehicles and equipment, including side‑load refuse truck, roll‑off trucks, grapple hook trucks, rear‑load refuse truck, and recycling collection trucks.
- Perform routine pre‑ and post‑trip inspections and basic maintenance.
- Maintain knowledge of all routes, schedules, and safety procedures while maintaining compliance with traffic laws and City regulations.
- Demonstrate knowledge of roll‑off operations across multiple service areas (residential routes, parks, recycle center operations, event logistics, Water Treatment Plant service needs).
- Assists in training lower‑level sanitation staff to ensure safe and efficient work practices.
