Job Description:
GMR Express Inc. is seeking dedicated, safety-conscious, and hardworking drivers to join our team in the Davenport terminal. As a FedEx Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of packages to residential and business customers within a specified route. This position requires strong customer service skills, excellent time management, and the ability to drive long distances and handle packages of varying sizes and weights.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate a FedEx delivery vehicle on assigned routes.
- Load and unload packages from the vehicle with care, ensuring the safety and security of the cargo.
- Plan and follow the most efficient delivery routes while adhering to company standards.
- Ensure timely delivery and pickup of packages to customers, maintaining an exceptional level of customer service.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, including checking fluid levels, tires, and general vehicle condition.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including proof of delivery, mileage, and hours worked.
- Operate handheld scanners and other equipment to track and manage packages.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations.
- Communicate effectively with the dispatch team and supervisors to report any issues or delays.
- Handle packages weighing up to 150 lbs. using proper lifting techniques.
- Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and maintenance of the vehicle.
Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license (CDL not required).
- At least one year of driving experience.
- Ability to lift packages weighing up to 150 lbs. regularly.
- Clean driving record with no history of accidents or moving violations.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently manage time to meet deadlines.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends is required.
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, twist, and lift packages (up to 150 lbs.) frequently throughout the day.
- Capable of performing pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and maintenance.
