About The Role
GAIN is seeking to recruit a Logistics Assistant to support day-to-day logistics operations, including transportation coordination, warehouse support, and delivery execution. They assist in processing and management of the procurement of goods and services, maintaining accurate records of procurement operations and maintaining positive relations with suppliers.
This role will be offered on two (2) years fixed term contract, subject to securing the award and availability of funding and will be based in Abuja. This advert closes on 8th May 2026. Key Responsibilities Include.
- Assist in planning and coordinating inbound and outbound movement of staff.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and update logistics databases.
- Complete Purchase Orders and ensure payments are processed for logistical services.
- Support in facilitating conferences and workshops and process payments and support the country office finance team as required.
- Support in conducting market surveys for procurement planning and budgeting.
- Support with asset management and verification of physical assets.
- Maintain accurate documentation systems and ensure that all procurements of goods are managed, tracked, and recorded in collaboration with Office Assistant.
- Coordinate airport transportation arrangements, including pickups and drop-offs, and manage the car transport services for travel both within and outside of Abuja.
- Support maintaining and update supplier information such as qualifications, supplier quality assessments, delivery times, product ranges, etc. and maintaining suppliers' databases with catalogues of various products and prices.
- Support to prepare procurement documents, such as requests for quotations, bidding documents, evaluation reports, purchase orders and contract agreements for logistical services.
- Coordinate dispatch and delivery schedules with drivers and transport providers.
- Communicate daily with drivers regarding routes and schedules.
- Monitor vehicle usage, trip logs, and basic compliance checks.
About You
The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in logistics and procurement within a structured, professional environment, along with a strong understanding of end-to-end supply chain processes. The candidate will contribute to procurement planning, market analysis, vendor due diligence, and the execution of transparent, competitive bidding processes. They will also support contract development and review, monitor commitments, and ensure efficient logistics operations. Experience working with international NGOs and familiarity with donor-funded projects particularly USAID or similar agencies is desirable.
The candidate should be comfortable using procurement and inventory management systems (both off-the-shelf and custom-built), with the ability to leverage data for informed decision-making. They should have excellent communication and negotiating skills, organized, attentive to detail, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment. A collaborative mindset, flexibility, and the ability to build effective working relationships across teams are essential and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools is required.
About Our Offer
The starting gross salary on offer for this role is from NGN 8,374,596 gross per annum, depending on experience.
Working Conditions
All of our positions are based in one or more of GAIN's designated offices as stated on our job advertisements. Successful candidates will be based in one of GAIN's country offices and must have the existing right to live and work within a reasonably commutable distance of the relevant city / cities in which the role is advertised. Please note, that GAIN does not sponsor working visas and relocations.
