Job Summary
Join our dynamic team as a Local Shag Driver working the night shift in North Sioux City, SD! In this vital role, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently transporting freight within local routes, ensuring timely deliveries and pickups. Night Schedule: M-F 8:00PM – 4:00 AM
Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers with across designated local routes during night shifts
- Load and unload freight using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or roll-off trucks, ensuring proper handling of freight including refrigerated, flatbed, tanker, and dump truck loads
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety, including checking brakes, lights, tires, and load securement
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, route documentation, and compliance with all safety regulations and company policies
- Route driving efficiently to meet delivery schedules while adhering to traffic laws and safety standards
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and warehouse personnel to coordinate pickups and deliveries
- Assist in securing freight on trucks to prevent damage during transit and ensure proper load distribution
Experience
- Proven experience in truck driving with a focus on commercial driving in a local setting
- Hands-on experience operating trucks and various trailer types such as refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or dump trucks
- Delivery driver experience with a strong understanding of route planning and load management
- Ability to operate forklifts or other loading equipment is preferred but not mandatory; training may be provided
- Knowledge of safety regulations related to trucking operations including DOT (Department of Transportation) standards
- Prior experience handling freight loads requiring securement or special handling procedures is advantageous
