Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and dependable Local Class A Driver to join our dynamic transportation team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating tractor-trailers to deliver medical supplies and equipment within local routes. Your expertise in various types of freight handling and driving will ensure timely deliveries while maintaining the highest safety standards.
Duties
- Safely operate Class A tractor-trailers with manual transmissions across designated local routes.
- Load and unload freight using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or roll-off trucks, ensuring accuracy and safety.
- Transport refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or dump trucks depending on delivery requirements.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety and compliance with regulations.
- Follow detailed delivery schedules, route driving instructions, and company policies to ensure on-time arrivals.
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation, logs, and records of freight movement.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to coordinate deliveries and resolve issues promptly.
Skills
- Proven experience in truck driving, especially with commercial vehicles such as tractor-trailers or flatbeds.
- Skilled in manual transmission operation and familiar with refrigerated trailers, tankers, dump trucks, or roll-off trucks.
- Knowledge of freight handling procedures including load & unload operations using forklifts or other equipment.
- Strong understanding of route driving best practices and safety regulations.
- Ability to perform detailed vehicle inspections and maintain compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) standards.
- Excellent driving record with a focus on safety and professionalism in all interactions.
