Responsibilities
- Safely operate Class A tractor-trailers, including manual transmission vehicles, across regional or national routes.
- Transport intermodal containers, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and other specialized trailers like dump trucks or freight carriers.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety, including checks on brakes, tires, lights, and load securement.
- Manage route driving efficiently by adhering to schedules, traffic regulations, and company policies to ensure timely deliveries.
- Handle documentation accurately for shipments, including bills of lading, delivery receipts, and inspection reports.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route updates, delivery statuses, or any issues encountered during transit.
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial driving with a focus on truck driving and route management.
- Skilled in operating manual transmission trucks safely and efficiently.
- Knowledge of handling various trailer types such as refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, or roll-off trucks.
- Experience in freight load & unload procedures using forklifts or other loading equipment.
- Familiarity with intermodal transportation processes and container handling protocols.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations related to trucking operations and cargo securement standards.
- Ability to navigate routes effectively while maintaining a high level of professionalism and attention to detail.
