About the Role:
As a Cement Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of cementing units and bulk plant systems to support oilfield cementing jobs. You will work closely with field supervisors and crews to ensure accurate mixing, pumping, and density control of cement slurries. Your performance directly impacts job quality, well integrity, and overall customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate cementing units and related equipment during field jobs in accordance with company and customer procedures.
- Set up, rig up, and rig down cementing equipment and bulk systems at well sites and yard locations.
- Mix and pump cement slurries to specified densities and volumes, monitoring and adjusting parameters in real time.
- Load, unload, and transfer bulk cement and additives using bulk plant systems and associated equipment.
- Conduct pre- and post-job equipment inspections, routine maintenance, and basic troubleshooting to ensure readiness and reliability.
- Maintain accurate job records, including volumes pumped, densities, pressures, and any operational issues.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures, including proper use of PPE, participation in safety meetings, and reporting of hazards or incidents.
- Assist with yard duties, equipment cleaning, and preparation of tools and materials for upcoming jobs.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience operating cementing equipment and bulk plant systems in an oilfield environment.
- Strong working knowledge of oilfield cementing procedures, stages, and job sequences.
- Demonstrated ability to achieve and maintain accurate cement slurry mixing, pumping rates, and density control.
- Valid CDL Class A license with a clean driving record and ability to drive and maneuver heavy equipment.
- Solid understanding of oilfield safety practices, hazard recognition, and safe lifting/handling techniques.
- Ability to work extended hours, including nights, weekends, and on-call schedules in varying weather conditions.
- Physically capable of lifting, carrying, and moving equipment and materials as required in field operations.
Desirable Skills:
- Familiarity with cement additives, blending practices, and their impact on slurry performance.
- Experience working on high-pressure cementing operations and multi-stage jobs.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for diagnosing and assisting with repairs on pumps, engines, and hydraulics.
- Previous experience with electronic data acquisition systems and job monitoring software.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid CDL Class A license (required).
- Formal oilfield services or cementing training courses (preferred).
- Current safety certifications such as H2S, First Aid/CPR, and OSHA or equivalent oilfield safety training (preferred).
