New London Doodles is seeking a full-time Groundskeeper / Driver to join our team.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in maintaining a clean and organized property, enjoys dogs, and is comfortable driving long distances. This role combines farm maintenance responsibilities with transportation and customer-facing delivery duties.
While daily tasks and priorities will be coordinated with management, we are looking for someone who is proactive and takes ownership of maintaining and improving the property—not someone who waits to be assigned every task.
Schedule & Expectations
This is a salaried position. Employees are required to clock in and out for tracking purposes, with a target average of approximately 40 hours per week.
Typical schedules:
- Farm work: Monday–Friday beginning at 9:00 AM
- Delivery and vet-run days: Typically begin at 7:00 AM
Delivery days can occasionally be long and may extend up to 12 hours depending on route distance, traffic, and customer schedules. We recognize these longer days and aim to be flexible with start and end times on subsequent workdays when possible to maintain fairness across the workweek.
Occasional Saturday deliveries may be required. When scheduled, employees may typically coordinate an alternate weekday off. Outside of delivery needs, we strive to maintain a Monday–Friday schedule.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
- Ability to work effectively with other farm staff
- Comfortable interacting professionally with customers during puppy deliveries
- Organized and detail-oriented
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Reliable transportation to Lynchburg, VA
- Ability to safely drive long distances
Responsibilities
Groundskeeping / Maintenance
- Maintain the appearance and functionality of the farm property
- Perform landscaping and cleanup tasks
- Maintain and repair fencing and farm structures
- Assist with trash and general property upkeep
- Identify opportunities to improve cleanliness, organization, and overall farm appearance
- Support the farm manager with ongoing maintenance and improvement projects

Driving (Company vehicle provided)
- Transport puppies and dogs to veterinary appointments and grooming visits
- Deliver puppies to customers within our service area (VA, NC, MD, and DC)
- Pick up dog food and other supplies needed for farm operations
- Represent the company professionally during customer interactions
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior groundskeeping, maintenance, or similar experience preferred but not required
- Familiarity with power tools and basic woodworking equipment preferred
- General knowledge of landscape equipment maintenance and repair
- Experience working with dogs preferred
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $37,500.00 per year
