DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role supports the daily operations of the Southeastern Veterans’ Center by transporting residents, materials, and supplies using a variety of vehicles and equipment. As a Equipment Operator A, you will perform the following duties:


  • Vehicle Operation:
    Drive cars, trucks, vans, buses, and other vehicles to transport residents and materials

  • Resident Safety:
    Check and secure locking devices on residents and their equipment before transport

  • Material Transport:
    Make local and long distance deliveries of supplies, mail, and medical items

  • Equipment Use:
    Operate snow removal, hauling, and other equipment needed for maintenance work

  • Maintenance Tasks:
    Complete inspections, minor repairs, and cleaning of vehicles and equipment

  • General Support:
    Assist with loading, unloading, recordkeeping, and other assigned department tasks

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with a 30-minute lunch. You will work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays as needed.

  • Telework:
    You will not have the option to telework in this position.

  • Salary:
    In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Six months experience in the operation and maintenance of large vans, buses and single-chassis trucks with a gross vehicle weight of 10,001 pounds or more; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:
  • You must be in possession of a valid Class C Pennsylvania driver’s license.

Additional Requirements:
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.

    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
