Driver & Food Pantry Worker Jobs in Sanford at The Salvation Army

Schedule/Hours: Part-time, Monday – Friday


This position is responsible for:

Responsible for the food pantry donation pickups and setting up for the Breakfast feeding program and other feeding programs as needed. Helps maintain a consistent state of cleanliness and organization of the food pantry, keeping accurate donation inventory and maintaining Salvation Army vehicle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Picks up food and other donations from various vendors.
  • Assists with food programs such as community Breakfast, food pantry, and pop-up feeding events.
  • Weighs all food pickups and record data to logs.
  • Fuels vehicle in accordance with state gasoline regulations and The Salvation Army standards.
  • Schedules routine maintenance of The Salvation Army vehicle to ensure safety of passengers and long life of vehicle.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Ability to meet attendance requirements.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
  • Ability to drive and obey all traffic laws.
  • Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects.
  • Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, lifting, and walking on a frequent change basis.
  • Moderate amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light to moderately heavy objects (up to 35 lbs.) frequently.
  • Work is usually performed in a normal food pantry environment where there is some physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like, with the exception of driving conditions.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOU

High School diploma or G.E.D. preferred, or

Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Certifications/Licenses:

Valid Driver’s License. Clean driving record.
