Job Summary/Overview: The Delivery Driver will operate gas or diesel trucks locally on roads and highways in a safe and efficient manner for the purpose of delivering products to our customers in a timely manner. The Delivery Driver may also return freight picked up from various vendors to the Artisan facility (back haul). They will be responsible for loading, delivery, unloading, and proof of delivery, as well as communication of any issues with delivery, products, or order discrepancies. Additional duties in the warehouse may be required upon return from routes.
Essential duties/responsibilities:
Load and unload trucks
Collect money from customers and ensure they signed off after receipt of delivery
Provide quality customer service through positive and professional interaction
Operate truck to transport, deliver, and receive products to and from customer sites in a safe and efficient manner
Perform pre-and post-trip inspection on the truck and trailer for safe operation of vehicle
Communicate with supervisor to receive work orders and products, maintain delivery schedule, verify loads, report delivery issues, and check-in during travel stops
Interact and communicate with customers and vendors to verify delivery loads, place or position products, receive re-loads or backhauls, and complete transaction documentation
Unload products from trailer and deliver to customer’s storage facility using manual and powered pallet jacks
Use JumpTrack system to document proof of delivery and facilitate invoicing
Read and interpret work orders, safety instructions, and manuals
Strictly adhere to product and temperature sensitive protocols when transporting, re-loading, and securing product for transport
Comply with all requirements of the food safety and quality management system. Report any food safety or quality issues to a Food Safety/SQF team member at the time the issue occurs.
Maintain manual or electronic log books.
Safely secure vehicle during each customer stop
Strictly adhere to driving regulations and apply skill when maneuvering vehicle in all situations.
Follow proper stacking and storing of products and goods; secure loads in between deliveries using load bars and straps; utilize product and storage shape and sizing for optimization of load
Must meet established on-time delivery deadlines and have the ability to work under minimal supervision
Must maintain cleanliness of vehicle each day and before checking in with dispatch at the end of your shift
Report to warehouse after delivery route for additional warehouse duties that may need to be completed
Other duties and Responsibilities:
Operate vehicle in a variety of traffic and weather conditions
Meet or exceed minimum productivity levels established by the Company
Meet or exceed established cases per error goals
Demonstrate strong customer relations and problem resolution skills
Effectively plan and organize work activities independent of direct supervision
Develop a good working knowledge of product and inventory control techniques and procedures
Maintain ongoing inter-department communications related to routing, safety, and customers
Job Requirements and Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma/GED preferred
Experience: Commercial driving experience or three months foodservice or food and beverage delivery experience preferred. Experience delivering food products preferred. Good driving record (MVR required).
Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Physical activities: climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, lifting up to 75 pounds of material on consistent basis, repetitive motions.
Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English as it relates to the job and to the safety regulations.
Must have basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide) and ability to work with money collected from customers to ensure the amount collected matches the invoiced amount.
Work Environment/Other information (travel required, physical requirements, on-call schedules, etc.):
Overtime hours, working occasional weekends and holidays, and starting at various early morning start times are required
Frequently lift, push, or move product that weighs up to 75 pounds with a two-wheel cart
Frequently reach up to 72 inches to stack and unstack pallets and use hand carts and pallet jacks
Frequently bend and twist while loading and unloading product, and retrieving items from trailer
At times, transport products down ramps, stairs, or docks, in all weather conditions
Required to wear steel toed or composite toed shoes
The work is performed primarily outdoors, but other duties are performed in warehouse environment
