Duties
- Safely operate various types of vehicles, including automobiles and commercial trucks, adhering strictly to DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and safe lifting practices.
- Plan and follow efficient delivery routes, ensuring timely arrivals while managing multiple stops throughout the day.
- Load, unload, and secure merchandise using proper heavy lifting techniques to prevent damage and injury.
- Engage with customers professionally, providing excellent service, answering questions about products or services, and upselling when appropriate.
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation, including pricing details, invoices, and delivery logs.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and report any maintenance needs or safety concerns promptly.
- Organize merchandise on delivery vehicles for optimal space utilization and ease of access during route driving.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and team members to coordinate deliveries and resolve any issues that arise on the road.
Experience
- Previous experience in commercial driving or route driving is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of local roads, traffic laws, and DOT regulations to ensure safe transportation practices.
- Demonstrated ability in math for calculating pricing, discounts, or change accurately during customer transactions.
- Experience in sales or upselling products/services to enhance customer satisfaction and increase revenue opportunities.
- Familiarity with automobile transportation logistics, merchandising techniques, and heavy lifting safety standards.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with customers professionally and collaborating with team members effectively.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple deliveries efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
- Military experience involving logistics or driving roles is considered a valuable asset.
