Overview
We are seeking a reliable and dedicated Delivery Driver to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for transporting organic fruit and vegetables to various locations, ensuring timely and safe delivery while providing excellent customer service. The ideal candidate will have experience in commercial driving and a strong commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and efficiency.
Duties
- Safely operate delivery vehicles, including non CDL box trucks and other company vehicles.
- Must be dependable to start routes at the time agreed upon.
- Load and unload goods from the vehicle, ensuring proper and careful handling of perishable produce often by hand or through use of a pallet jack and liftgate.
- Navigate routes efficiently to ensure timely deliveries.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, and obtaining receiving signatures.
- Communicate effectively with customers regarding delivery times and any potential delays.
- Assist with warehouse duties as needed, including organizing inventory and operating pallet jacks.
- Provide exceptional customer service during all interactions.
Skills
- Proven experience as a Delivery Driver or in a similar courier role.
- Strong knowledge of commercial driving regulations and safety standards.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and handle physical demands of the job.
- Familiarity with warehouse operations and logistics processes.
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly demeanor.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Clean driving record required.
Approximate Schedule
- Wednesday: early morning departure with approximately 6 stops on a 10+ hour route. Weekly Mid May-Mid March.
- Thursday: early morning departure with approximately 11 stops on an approximately 8 hour route. Weekly early July-March.
- Sunday: early morning departure with approximately 3 stops on a 10 hour route. Weekly mid June-mid July
- Some route days may be shifted to accommodate candidate’s or customer’s needs.
- Additional days and routes may be added with the hire of the right candidate.
- Additional on farm equipment operating and other duties would be available for other weekdays if candidate is looking for full time employment.
