Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers with manual transmissions across long-distance routes, ensuring timely deliveries.
- Load and unload freight from flatbed trailers, utilizing forklift or other equipment when necessary.
- Secure loads properly on flatbeds, including tarping and strapping to prevent shifting during transit.
- Drive refrigerated trailers or tankers as required, adhering to all safety protocols for temperature control and hazardous materials handling.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with DOT regulations.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, routes, and cargo details in compliance with federal regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch regarding route updates, delivery status, and any issues encountered on the road.
Experience
- Proven truck driving experience with a valid CDL A license, preferably with flatbed, tanker, or refrigerated trailer experience.
- Demonstrated ability to operate manual transmission trucks confidently.
- Prior delivery driver experience involving load & unload procedures and route driving across multiple states.
- Familiarity with freight handling equipment such as forklifts or dump trucks is a plus.
- Knowledge of safety procedures related to flatbed hauling, securing cargo, and working with various trailer types including roll-off trucks.
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations and compliance standards for commercial driving.
