The Township employs 30 full time and 15 part time employees across multiple departments and locations spanning through Wilno, Barry’s Bay, and Combermere.

The Township of Madawaska Valley is presently accepting applications for a Deputy Clerk (Temporary Full-Time Position – ending November 18, 2026).

Reporting to the CAO/Clerk, the position executes the statutory and advisory duties of the Clerk as well as performs a wide variety of functions. The position provides general administrative assistance to the CAO/Clerk, Department Heads and Council ensuring that all municipal and legislative policies are adhered to. Assumes responsibilities and performs Clerk’s functions in the absence of the Clerk. The position interacts with staff, Council and the public to coordinate public relations procedures, and oversees Council communication.

Rate of pay: $31.99 – $37.64 per hour, no benefits. The applicant will be eligible to enroll in OMERS program.

The Township of Madawaska Valley is presently accepting applications for a Crossing Guard Rover. A

Crossing Guard Rover ensures the safety of students and pedestrians by directing traffic and guiding

children across busy streets.

A Crossing Guard Rover must be available on an on-call basis who can work on short notice. The Crossing Guard Rover directs and assists students crossing the road at an assigned location for one hour in the morning and one hour in the mid afternoon. The successful candidate will be able to work in all weather conditions, record and report incidents to supervisors, and communicate with children on road safety awareness.

Rate of pay: Group 1 – $25.00 hourly plus 4% vacation pay.

The Madawaska Valley Fire Department is actively recruiting new Volunteer Firefighters for both the North Hall (Barry’s Bay) and South Hall (Combermere).

Volunteer Firefighters engage in fire suppression, prevention, and education activities. Candidates must be able to obtain a clean driver’s abstract and vulnerable sector check, as well as become trained to the 1002 National Fire Protection Agency Standard Level One. All training is paid for by the Township of Madawaska Valley, and Volunteer Firefighters are paid annually based on the number of training sessions and calls they respond to.
