Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial vehicles such as buses, school buses, paratransit vans, and <PERSON> drivers in compliance with all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Provide excellent customer service by assisting passengers, especially children, seniors, or individuals with special needs, ensuring a comfortable and respectful environment
- Maintain clear communication with dispatchers, passengers, and team members using effective verbal and written skills in English or multilingual settings
- Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure mechanical safety of vehicles and report any issues promptly
- Manage behavior and enforce safety policies among passengers to promote a secure environment
- Assist with boarding and alighting procedures for children or individuals requiring special assistance
- Keep accurate logs of trips, mileage, fuel usage, and incident reports for operational efficiency
Experience
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for bus driving or paratransit services
- Proven experience in bus driving, commercial driving, or school bus operation
- Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse communities
- Experience working with children, seniors, or individuals needing childcare support is highly desirable
- Mechanical knowledge to perform basic vehicle inspections and troubleshoot minor issues
- Demonstrated ability to manage behavior effectively in a dynamic environment
- Prior experience in customer service or teaching roles that require patience and clear communication
