Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers with automatic transmission across designated routes, adhering strictly to DOT (Department of Transportation) and FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations.
- Transport a variety of freight including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, hazardous materials, and dangerous goods while ensuring proper load securement and handling.
- Load and unload cargo using manual handling techniques or equipment such as forklifts, roll-off trucks, or dump trucks when necessary.
- Use GPS navigation systems to plan optimal routes, monitor traffic conditions, and ensure timely deliveries.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety, including checks for hazardous materials compliance if applicable.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo details, and delivery documentation in compliance with DOT regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route updates, delivery statuses, or any issues encountered during transit.
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a valid CDL A license and clean driving record.
- Skilled in operating manual transmission trucks and specialized equipment such as forklifts or dump trucks.
- Knowledge of logistics cargo handling techniques for various freight types including refrigerated goods, flatbed loads, tankers, and hazardous materials.
- Familiarity with GPS navigation tools for route planning and real-time traffic management.
- Strong understanding of FMCSA regulations, DOT rules, hazardous materials regulations, and safety protocols related to commercial trucking.
- Ability to load & unload cargo efficiently while maintaining safety standards; experience with manual handling is preferred.
- Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety, punctuality, and customer service during route driving assignments.
