Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) A Truck Driver to join our transportation team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for safely operating large trucks to transport freight across various routes, ensuring timely deliveries and exceptional service. Your expertise in handling different types of trailers, including refrigerated, flatbed, tanker, dump truck, roll-off, and tractor-trailers, will be essential in managing diverse cargo loads. Duties
- Safely operate CDL A tractor-trailers across designated routes, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Load and unload freight using appropriate equipment such as forklifts when necessary, ensuring cargo integrity
- Drive a variety of specialized trailers including refrigerated units, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks to accommodate different shipment needs
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to identify maintenance issues and ensure compliance with safety standards
- Plan efficient routes for timely deliveries while managing delivery schedules and customer expectations
- Secure freight properly during transit to prevent damage or loss during route driving
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding delivery status, route changes, or any incidents encountered on the road
Skills
- Proven experience in truck driving with a valid CDL A license and a clean driving record
- Familiarity with manual transmission trucks and operating various trailer types such as refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-offs
- Strong knowledge of freight handling procedures including load & unload operations and securing cargo safely
- Ability to perform detailed vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks
- Experience with route planning and driving in diverse conditions to meet delivery deadlines
- Competence in using equipment like forklifts for loading/unloading when required
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with dispatchers and customers effectively
