Overview
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Commercial Driver to join our transportation team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely operating a manual transmission concrete mixer truck to deliver ready mix concrete efficiently across designated routes within the County of San Diego. This role requires a strong focus on safety, adherence to traffic laws, including commercial driver laws and regulations, a minimum of a class B commercial driver license with tank endorsement, strong customer service skills and excellent driving skills. Candidates with experience in driving a Concrete Mixer, route driving, and commercial driver requirements are encouraged to apply. A valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) (Class A or B) with tank endorsement is essential, along with a clean driving record, and the ability to safely and efficiently unload concrete where directed by the customer or job Foreman.
Duties
- Safely operate a manual transmission concrete mixer truck on public roadways.
- Load and discharge ready mix concrete where directed with the use of chutes while ensuring no spillage of concrete on roadways or other areas of the job site.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with California regulations.
- Follow designated local routes and schedules to arrive at the job site promptly (may require waiting until customer is ready for concrete to be pours but we pay for your time waiting)
- Maintain accurate logs of pre trip inspections and driving hours, and maintenance records in accordance with MCP and DOT regulations.
- Assist with loading or unloading freight when necessary using forklifts or other equipment.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and traffic laws while maintaining a professional attitude on the road.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients regarding delivery schedules or any issues encountered during transit or while at a job site.
- Customer service and interaction with customers and contractors.
Experience
- Proven experience in commercial driving of a concrete mixer.
- Experience operating manual transmission trucks is required.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is helpful but not required.
- Concrete mixer experience involving load & discharging of concrete procedures is required.
- MUST be able to pass pre employment, random, and post collision drug and alcohol testing.
- Valid CDL license is required and a clean driving record with no accidents or citations in the past three years is preferred.
- Knowledge of MCP and DOT regulations and safety standards for commercial vehicles is essential. Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 – $110,000.00 per year
