Class A Delivery Driver Jobs in La Vergne, USA at Core-Mark
Position Purpose
Food and food service delivery drivers fulfill a critical role in the country’s food supply chain. Our delivery drivers not only ensure that customers receive their products at the scheduled times and in good condition, but they also represent the company, building lasting relationships with customers.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform all required safety checks, including pre/post-trip inspections of the tractor/truck and trailer, in accordance with DOT regulations and company safety standards.
- Follow DOT regulations, company safe driving guidelines, and policies, reporting safety hazards immediately.
- Inspect trailers for proper loading and secure freight, perform count checks, and verify invoices.
- Complete all required paperwork accurately and legibly.
- Load the preloaded trailer onto the tractor and drive to deliver customer orders according to the predetermined route schedule.
- Unload products, transport items to customer storage areas, and perform damage checks, scanning, and communicate with supervisors as needed.
- Verify deliveries with customers, obtain proper signatures, and collect payments where required.
- Load customer returns onto the trailer, secure doors, and ensure all equipment is locked and protected.
- Unload damaged goods and customer returns, complete necessary paperwork, and remove trash from the trailer.
- Record hours of service daily and enter the log in accordance with federal, state, and company requirements.
- Conduct general housekeeping in the tractor, loading dock area, and keep trailers clean; secure all equipment and complete all paperwork at shift end.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- At least 6 months of commercial driving experience.
- Valid CDL‑A license.
- 21 years of age or older.
- Meeting all state licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable).
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report for the past 3 years.
- Pass post‑offer drug test and criminal background check.
- Pass required road test.
- Either attain or possess a valid current DOT Health Card or be able to secure one.
- Ability to hand‑lift and use two‑wheeler, lift gate, and other equipment to move or stack product cases/freight ranging from 10–35 pounds up to 60–90 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ year experience in food service distribution industry.
- Experience with onboard computer and electronic log system (e.g., People Net).
- Experience with hand‑held point‑of‑delivery scanning system (e.g., POD).
- Customer service–related work experience.
