Job Description
The truck driver position is expected to work as a valued member of the Logistic operations. This job will primarily consist of local vehicle operations involving positioning and moving trucks and trailers on and between NatureBest Facility and Costumers. On occasion, the deliveries will be required throughout the region.
Essential Functions
1. Operate company-owned and leased trucks to facilitate shipping and receiving operations.
2. Operate trucks for the delivery, pickup, and relocation of products and materials.
3. Perform required before-, during- and after-operation “user maintenance” and provide required reports.
4. Provide outstanding customer service during delivery and pickup operations.
5. Maintain all required certifications required by DPS and OSHA and company safety programs.
6. Maintain and protect all property in excellent condition.
7. Perform any other tasks assigned to support and improve the overall team operations.
Work Environment
This position is performed in outside weather conditions including extreme heat and cold.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
DOT Requirements
A commercial driver shall meet all of the above requirements as well as the following requirements prior to operating DOT regulated equipment:
- Must be 21 years of age or older, unless intrastate requirements exist in the state in which an employee works and driving is limited to intrastate travel.
- Must be able to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records.
- Must be physically qualified to operate a CMV and when on-duty has on his or her person the original, or a copy, of a current medical examiner’s certificate that he or she is physically qualified to drive a CMV. The medical certificate shall be completed by a medical examiner listed on the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners.
- Must annually provide a list of all violations of motor vehicle traffic laws and ordinances of which the driver has been convicted during the preceding 12 months.
- Must successfully complete a driver’s road test and have been issued a certificate of driver’s road test.
- Must complete an application for employment. An application shall be completed regardless if a new or current employee. The driver’s application shall be complete and meet minimum requirements.
- Must complete an investigation and inquiry of the driver’s safety performance history and alcohol/controlled substance testing from each employer in the prior three years from the date of the application.
- Must have previous experience operating a 53 foot truck.
