Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and responsible CDL School Bus Driver’s to join our dynamic team! In this vital role, you will be the friendly face behind the wheel, ensuring the safe, reliable, and timely transportation of students to and from school. Your energetic approach and commitment to safety will help create a positive experience for children, parents, and staff alike. Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses and other authorized vehicles, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Safely transport students on assigned route(s) in accordance with time schedules; picking up and discharging students at designated stops.
- Conduct pre and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure mechanical safety, cleanliness, and readiness for each route.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch regarding delays and issues that may arise.
- Manage student behavior on the bus through positive reinforcement and behavior management techniques.
- Maintain accurate logs of routes, mileage, and student attendance while completing necessary reports promptly.
- Follow all child safety protocols and provide a caring environment that promotes respect and kindness. Ensure all students have exited the bus at the end of the route. Check all areas for sleeping children, etc.
- Maintain a clean and organized bus
- Represent Montauk Bus with professionalism, courtesy and safety first
Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a School Bus and Passenger endorsement or willingness to obtain one prior to employment.
- Proven experience in bus driving or commercial driving preferred; experience working with children is a plus.
- Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse communities.
- Knowledge of basic mechanical principles for routine vehicle inspections; ability to identify maintenance needs.
- Demonstrated ability to manage behavior effectively and foster a safe environment for children.
- Excellent driving record with a focus on safety; previous experience with paratransit or senior care transportation is advantageous.
- Ability to pass background checks, drug screenings, and any required training programs.

Your schedule
- Monday – Friday (morning, mid-day and afternoon shifts)
- Extra hours available for charters, sports and field trips (weekdays & weekends)
No CDL? No problem! We provide paid training to help you earn your license. You must be willing to obtain your cdl permit and proper endorsements prior to applying. We will train you for the driving portion and prepare you for your road test, while you work with us as a school bus matron or car service driver (requires class E license). Please note, training is only available out of our Center Moriches location.
