Responsibilities
- Operate a variety of trucks including tractor-trailers, flatbeds, refrigerated trailers, tankers, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, and other specialized freight vehicles
- Load and unload cargo efficiently using forklifts or manual methods, ensuring proper securing of loads for safe transit
- Drive on designated routes with precision, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Manage delivery schedules proactively to meet tight deadlines while maintaining safety standards
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment to ensure optimal operation and compliance with safety protocols
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients regarding delivery status or any issues encountered during routes
- Maintain accurate documentation of deliveries, load details, mileage logs, and vehicle inspections
Qualifications
- Proven experience in truck driving, especially with tractor-trailers or similar heavy-duty vehicles
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with necessary endorsements for different vehicle types (manual transmission experience preferred)
- Experience operating refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, or roll-off trucks is highly desirable
- Knowledge of freight handling procedures including load & unload operations using forklifts or manual methods
- Strong understanding of route driving and navigation skills for efficient deliveries
- Ability to perform manual tasks safely and effectively during loading/unloading processes
- Excellent safety record with adherence to all federal and state transportation regulations
