As a Blue Hen Disposal’s CDL Driver, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service while operating commercial vehicles for waste disposal. This position requires core skills in driving and heavy lifting, along with premium skills in mechanical knowledge and operating various types of trucks. Your experience in delivery driving, manual transmission, and handling different truck types will be valuable. A valid CDL A or B license is essential for this role. Responsibilities
- Operate a residential/recycling collection truck to collect solid waste and/or recyclables on specified collection routes in residential areas.
- Transport waste and recycling materials to landfill sites.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on vehicles, such as checking fluids, safety equipment, and tires.
- Follow all safety standards and equipment checks and precautions in the performance of all duties, complying with all federal, state, local, and company rules on safety and vehicle operation.
- Maintain clean vehicle standards by cleaning the interior and exterior of the vehicle.
- Exhibit a professional demeanor, manner, and appearance at all times, especially when interacting with customers and the general public while on route or in uniform.
- Work closely with supervisors to improve route efficiencies.
- Attend safety and branch meetings.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License.
- Pass pre-employment drug screening.
- Minimum 2 years of CDL driving experience.
- Ability to communicate well with supervisors and co-workers.
- Willingness to observe all safety precautions.
- Can perform manual work for an extended period, under all weather conditions.
- Can understand and follow oral and written instructions.
