Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers with manual transmissions, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, and other specialized freight vehicles
- Load and unload cargo efficiently using forklift or manual methods, ensuring proper securing of freight to prevent damage during transit
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety and compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
- Follow designated routes for delivery and route driving, adhering to schedules and traffic laws while maintaining a positive attitude on the road
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, deliveries, and vehicle maintenance records in compliance with federal regulations
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to coordinate deliveries and resolve any issues promptly
- Assist with loading or unloading freight when necessary, especially for specialized cargo such as refrigerated goods or oversized loads
Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A with a clean driving record
- Proven experience in truck driving, including delivery driver experience with route driving responsibilities
- Skilled in operating manual transmission trucks and handling various trailer types such as refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, or roll-off trucks
- Ability to load & unload freight safely using forklifts or manual techniques as required
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety standards for commercial driving
- Strong physical stamina to handle long hours on the road and lifting requirements for freight handling
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate with team members and customers effectively
