Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers with manual transmission across regional routes, ensuring on-time deliveries.
- Load and unload freight using appropriate manual handling techniques or equipment such as forklifts or roll-off trucks when necessary.
- Manage diverse cargo types, including refrigerated goods, flatbed loads, tankers, and hazardous materials, following all FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
- Use GPS navigation systems to plan efficient routes and adapt to traffic or road conditions proactively.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with DOT regulations.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo details, and delivery documentation in accordance with FMCSA regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding delivery status, route changes, or safety concerns.
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a valid CDL Class A license.
- Familiarity with manual transmission trucks and the operation of refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and dump trucks.
- Strong knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT compliance, hazardous materials handling, and dangerous goods transportation.
- Ability to navigate using GPS systems efficiently and plan optimal routes for timely deliveries.
- Skilled in load & unload procedures, including freight handling for logistics cargo handling environments.
- Experience with route driving across regional territories with a focus on safety and efficiency.
- Physical capability to perform manual handling tasks safely; experience operating forklifts or roll-off trucks is a plus.
